Biden Fails, Holiday Disaster Ahead
Biden just can’t lead this country.
We reported earlier last week about a potential railroad strike which could cause massive problems this December. Now it appears that matters have only gotten worse after the rail union that were threatening to go on strike rejected a tentative contract agreement that was proposed by President Biden.
According to The Hill, railroad workers at the Sheet Metal, Air, Rail and Transportation Workers’s transportation division (SMART-TD) declined Biden’s proposal to come to an agreement.
This means that there will now be a walkout in early December right in the middle of the busiest time of the year the holiday shopping season.
If Biden is unable to reach a new agreement with these workers the railroads transport, which makes up about one-third of U.S. freight, will not be shipped causing massive problems this December.
SMART-TD President Jeremy Ferguson responded to Biden’s failed negotiation tactic and said, “This can all be settled through negotiations and without a strike. A settlement would be in the best interests of the workers, the railroads, shippers and the American people.”
Railroad workers are asking for better pay, more reliable schedules, stronger safety standards and the ability to have sick leave.
Ferguson added, “The ball is now in the railroads’ court. Let’s see what they do. They can settle this at the bargaining table. But, the railroad executives who constantly complain about government interference and regularly bad-mouth regulators and Congress now want Congress to do the bargaining for them.”
President Biden needs to figure this major issue out fast before the 2022 holiday season is ruined.
