U.S. Faces National Threat
This is not good.
Republican Rep. Don Bacon is now warning the American people that the United States could be defaulting on its national debt and it’s a “real threat” that Congress needs to pay attention to.
According to The Hill, Bacon warned, “I think it is a real threat that both sides have to take serious.”
The concern about the U.S. defaulting comes after President Biden’s Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said that the country is projected to hit its borrowing limit which is roughly $31.4 trillion by January 19th.
Yellen then vowed to take “extraordinary measures” to prevent a default which could cause a serious problem between the White House, Senate Democrats and House Republicans.
Senate Democrats are looking to quickly pass debt limit legislation however House Republicans have said they will not cooperate unless there is serious spending cuts.
Bacon warned, “The Republicans were largely elected to get control of reckless spending. On our side we have to realize … we can’t get everything we want either. I want our side to negotiate with the Democrats in good faith.”
Things are about to get very ugly between the House Republicans and Senate Democrats. Hopefully things will play out without the American people getting hurt.
