How Long Will Your Tax Refund Take?
Expect these delays…
With the 2022 tax season officially having started. The IRS has already began warning Americans about delays due to a number of reasons including the pandemic and worker shortages.
They have asked Americans to file as quickly as possible and preferably electronically as well.
According to Fox News, At the end of December the IRS was dealing with 6 million unprocessed individual returns which is around five to six times more than they usually have to deal with.
The IRS has also warned that many Americans could have to wait much longer than the average 21 day wait time for their refund.
Furthermore, IRS Commissioner Chuck Rettig stated, “There are important steps people can take to ensure they avoid processing delays and get their tax refund as quickly as possible. We urge people to carefully review their taxes for accuracy before filing. And they should file electronically with direct deposit if at all possible; filing a paper tax return this year means an extended refund delay.”
