Senate Moves To Fix Supply Chain
Will the Senate pull through?
It now appears that the U.S. Senate is now working on drafting a bill that will spend $52 billion to begin creating semiconductor chips here in the United States to end supply chain problems while also eliminating the U.S.’s independence on China.
According to Fox Business, while this is just the beginning steps to make America more independent, it is a good sign that lawmakers finally want to act and make some important changes so future problems do not arise.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi explained that a new bill like this could ensure the United States is not longer dependent on “countries of concern” for critical goods.
This decision has been a bipartisan one however. Republicans expressed anger over being left out of the decision to draft the bill and are claiming that it contains too many provisions that leaves the United States vulnerable to China’s malign activity.
