Common Grocery Store Item Banned
Americans have mixed feelings about this.
New Jersey’s Governor Phil Murphy recently signed a bill to ban plastic bags and other single use plastic items from stores and businesses and now it looks like the order has just officially gone into effect.
Governor Murphy called it the strongest bag ban in the nation and prohibits plastic bag usage in all stores and restaurants as well.
According to Fox News, In a statement Murphy said, “Plastic bags are one of the most problematic forms of garbage, leading to millions of discarded bags that stream annually into our landfills, rivers, and oceans. With today’s historic bill signing, we are addressing the problem of plastic pollution head-on with solutions that will help mitigate climate change and strengthen our environment for future generations.”
New Jersey further explained, “Additionally, paper bags require ten times the amount of trucks to deliver the same quantity of bags, resulting in increased truck traffic and diesel emissions.”
