Employers No Longer Require College Degree
Is this a good or bad sign?
While college degrees have simply become too expensive to obtain for some middle to lower class American families, many big businesses have done something surprising for once and are now hiring workers who do not have a four year college degree.
According to Yahoo, several companies such as Accenture, AT&T, Dell, Google, Hilton Hotels, Ernst & Young, Oracle, IBM and Intel have began hiring more workers without college degrees in recent years and have been placing them in job positions that typically would have required a bachelors degree.
What’s even more interesting is that more companies than ever before are now dropping the four-year degree prerequisite.
2017 data found that out of 51 million job listings that were analyzed, 51% of those jobs required a four year degree. Now, in 2021 those same jobs only require 44% of its workers to have a degree.
