Democrat Issues Warning To Own Party
This could get ugly.
In a surprising turn of events, Democrat Senator Raphael Warnock has now warned lawmakers, including Democrats as well, to not “play chicken” when it comes to the economy since America is now facing the threat of a national debt default.
According to The Hill, Warnock warned lawmakers during an interview with ABC, “The last thing we ought to be doing is playing chicken with the American economy. We’ve been through the onslaught of a very long pandemic that has created a lot of challenges for American families.”
Warnock’s warning comes as congressional leaders battle over how to handle a possible national default since the United States is approaching its $31.4 trillion borrowing limit.
This looks like it’s going to get ugly since Democrats are aiming to quickly pass a debt ceiling increase while Republicans are saying that they will only agree if there are some critical spending cuts. President Biden has already warned the Republicans that he will not negotiate with them regarding the debt ceiling.
Warnock added, “The people who are on the margins, who are the most vulnerable, are the ones who will suffer the most. This is not a game. This is peoples’ lives.”
