Bye Bye Airline Pilots
The world is changing fast.
In a surprising turn of events, cargo airline Ameriflight which partners with shipping giants such as UPS, FedEx and DHL has just announced that they have agreed upon a $134 million deal to purchase 20 autonomous aircraft from Natilus which does not require a pilot to transport their cargo.
According to Fox, the company explained that their new planes will “aid in modernizing Ameriflight’s fleet and allow the offering of a high quality and differentiated product in a part of the industry seeing exponential growth.”
“Natilus’ technology has made a name for themselves in creating autonomous innovations that require companies to cut their costs of operations while delivering the same if not better results for their customers explained the CEO.
Ameriflight added that their new planes provide them a 60% reduction to cost of operations while also cutting their carbon emissions by 50%.
The company added, “The Natilus Kona, which Ameriflight is eyeing, is a 3.8-ton payload short-haul feeder uncrewed aerial vehicle. It will be used to support the company’s increased business opportunities, primarily for Ameriflight’s expedited supply chain services.”
It’s only a matter of time before the self-flying planes make their way into transportation industries such as Delta, American Airlines and Southwest and people are soon being flown in self-flying planes to their destinations.
