BREAKING: U.S. Fertilizer Shortage, These Foods Will Skyrocket In Price
America is facing yet another problem.
Just when problems couldn’t get any worse, it now appears that a worldwide fertilizer shortage could cause the price of several important foods to skyrocket.
Every day food items such as coffee, corn, rice and much more is now expected to surge in price.
According to the Washington Examiner, “A host of factors, including extreme weather events, elevated natural gas prices, and supply chain disruptions are raising the price point for the key plant foods and making them less and less affordable for growers, analysts say.“
Furthermore, the average price of UAN32, a common fertilizer costed an astounding $522 per ton near the end of October which was an 18% increase from September. What’s even worse is that UAN32 is up 108% from last year.
Other things such as Anhydrous ammonia, which is used in nitrogen based fertilizers are also reaching extremely high new prices.
“Farmers could pass the higher cost of fertilizers on to consumers in the form of lower crop production and the subsequent higher food prices,” Alexis Maxwell, an analyst at Green Markets said.
