U.S. Taxpayers Asked To Pay $800 Billion
This is a massive request but it may be necessary.
The Pentagon is now asking President Biden and Congress to provide them the largest-ever budget amounting to $842 billion next year for the U.S. military.
This entire amount will likely be funded by the U.S. taxpayers in order to keep America safe.
According to Fox, during a Monday briefing, Deputy Secretary of Defense Kathleen Hicks announced that the FY 2024 budget request represents a 3.2% increase over FY 2023 and a 13.4% increase over FY 2022. Hicks stressed the importance of the budget increase, highlighting the “seriousness” of the threats posed by nations such as China and Russia.
During the press briefing, Hicks stated that the current defense budget request is the largest in nominal terms that the US has ever proposed. She also mentioned that the budget is highly aligned with strategic goals, thanks to a sustained focus and attention from senior leaders over the past year.
Hicks then warned, “Our greatest measure of success and the one we use around here. Most often is to make sure the [People’s Republic of China] leadership wakes up every day, considers the risks of aggression, and concludes today’s not the day. And for them to think that today and every day between now and 2027, now in 2035, now and 2049 and beyond.”
Hicks further revealed that around one-third of the budget designated for munitions will be allocated towards the development and production of hypersonic missiles. She appealed to Congress to approve the budget without delay, cautioning that any delays could pose a grave risk when confronting a formidable opponent like China.
The announcement of the budget request coincided with President Biden’s visit to California, where he revealed the sale of nuclear submarines to Australia.
