U.S. Currency Gets New Face
Here’s what happened…
It has now been learned that the United States Mint has just decided to place silent-era Hollywood actress Anna May Wong on the new special edition of U.S. quarters. This decision makes Wong the first Asian American in U.S. history to be put on official U.S. currency.
According to Breitbart, Anna May Wong will be on the new quarters that will be released on Monday. These quarters are part of the American Women Quarters Program which aims to celebrate women in American history.
Other females being placed on U.S. quarters are Maya Angelou, Sally Ride, and Eleanor Roosevelt.
Democrats House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Rep. Ted Lieu have bother celebrated the decision on social media.
Speaker Nancy Pelosi wrote on twitter, “Anna May Wong was a dazzling, trailblazing talent on the silver screen & a courageous advocate for representation in cinema — inspiring generations of AAPI actors. It’s fitting her likeness will grace our quarter beside an all-American creed: E Pluribus Unum, “from many, one.”
