U.S. Auto Maker Sells Out To China
Welcome to Biden’s America folks, it’s worse than we thought.
Ford Motor Company is set to create a landmark decision by importing the upcoming Lincoln Nautilus from China, marking the first-ever instance of doing so. This move is being made amidst mounting criticism of Ford’s plan to establish a plant in Marshall, Michigan, which involves the participation of China’s top electric vehicle battery supplier.
According to Breitbart, Ford executives have recently revealed that the Lincoln Nautilus will now be manufactured in China and imported for sale in the United States, marking a departure from its previous production site in Ontario, Canada, from where it was shipped to the U.S. market.
This marks the first instance in Ford’s history that Lincoln will produce a vehicle in China and export it to the United States for sale. Following this announcement, experts are urging President Joe Biden and Congress to raise U.S. tariffs on vehicles manufactured in China.
At present, the tariffs on vehicles made in China stand at approximately 25 percent. Industry experts argue that the recent announcement by Ford underscores the need for higher U.S. tariffs to safeguard American auto workers and domestic industry from having to contend with subsidized Chinese-made vehicles.
Michael Stumo, the CEO of the Coalition for a Prosperous America (CPA), took to Twitter to state that “25% tariffs on China built autos not enough.” Dan DiMicco, who previously served on former President Trump’s trade transition team, suggested that tariffs on vehicles made in China by the United States should be raised to 50 percent.
Nick Iacovella, a member of the Coalition for a Prosperous America (CPA), expressed his discontent with Ford’s announcement on Twitter by stating that he did not believe that this was the type of “history” that Americans desired to witness from a renowned American auto manufacturer.
Despite Ford’s recent announcement and the mounting concerns around its partnership with China’s Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. (CATL) to construct a $3.4 billion electric vehicle battery plant in Marshall, the administration of President Joe Biden has so far remained quiet on the matter. Government officials have largely refrained from commenting on the developments.
