The cost of Thanksgiving turkeys is expected to skyrocket this year due to President Biden’s inflation, supply chain issues and several new outbreaks of avian flu among Turkey flocks.
According to The Hill, Inflation and economic instability are without a doubt going to increase the cost of turkey’s this Thanksgiving because it costs farmer more to feed their animals and pay their workers.
Supply chain issues started plaguing turkey farmers in 2019 and were only worsened by the pandemic. As of right now the economic issues have caused the price of fresh, skinless turkey breasts to increase an astounding 112 percent!
What’s even worse is that the Department of Agriculture has learned that the cost of frozen turkeys are up 73 percent compared to just last year.
In 2019, the wholesale price for one pound of turkey was $0.90 today it is $1.85 per pound!
Be prepared to pay out big time if you are planning a large Thanksgiving day feast.
