Georgia Governor Brian Kemp recently announced that Hyundai Motor Group’s will now be investing a whopping $5.5 billion in the state of Georgia to build a massive electric vehicle plant and battery manufacturing facility close to Savannah, Georgia.
According to Fox News, Gov. Kemp explained that this would be the largest economic development project in Georgia’s history and will create 81,000 new jobs and will bring more revenue to the state.
Kemp said, “We’re very excited – it’s massive.”
Kemp signed the new contract with Hyundai President and CEO Jaehoon Chang along with several other top executives. The new electric vehicle plant will be built in Bryan County on a 2,923-acre plot of land which was purchased by the state.
Kemp later announced, “Obviously, it was a competitive project with several other states that ended up being on the short list. This deal has been solidified for weeks now, and we’re just getting to the point where the company is comfortable announcing it.”
