Railroad Strike, What Does It Mean For You?
This is not looking good for any of us.
We have already reported on this story before but now the deadline for the upcoming railroad worker strike has gotten much closer.
According to NBC, September 16th is the deadline for two railroad worker unions and the railroad business operators to reach an agreement. If an agreement is not reached by September 16th more than 90,000 railroad workers will go on strike and it will massively disrupt America’s supply chain.
As of right now 30% of America’s supply chain depends on railroads. President Biden and his administration is already having major issues keeping the supply chain in order and this strike could be the final nail in America’s supply chain coffin if it goes into affect.
President Biden and his administration has already met with the union leaders in an attempt to mediate the issues however nothing was resolved.
If this strike does happen in 3 days everything from agricultural, industrial, wholesale, retail and resource-based sectors across America will be greatly affected.
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce has warned, “A shutdown of the nation’s rail service would have enormous national consequences. It would lead to perishable foods such dairy, fruits, and vegetables spoiling at their points of origin, would halt Amtrak service … disrupt materials and goods being delivered to factories and ports, and would inhibit the transport of heating fuel and other important fuels and chemicals.”
