No More Beer
This is going to make a lot of people furious.
If you thought 2022 was already bad, its about to get worse.
It appears that the cost of beer is expected to rise dramatically now due to the conflict in Ukraine.
According to Fox, Barley, which is the key ingredient in beer, is largely produced in Ukraine. The region in which most of the barley is produced is called “breadbasket of Europe” because of just how much grain in produced in that area.
The Beer Institute CEO Jim McGreevy explained, “Ukraine accounts for about 20% of beer’s usage of barley. It’s one of the top five global producers of barley, so brewers, particularly at a global level, will be watching the supply and price of barley.”
It is currently unclear how much this will affect the cost of beer, it is without a doubt expected to affect it in some way.
Smaller brewers have already felt the pain of Ukraine’s barley loss. At the moment large beer producers such as Molson Coors have remained unaffected.
