Minimum Wage Raised to 22 Dollars
Should this happen.
The city council for Austin, Texas, is now considering raising their minimum wage for full-time employees to $22 dollars compared to the current $15.
According to Fox, Austin is now considering raising the minimum wage to match the rate of inflation which has been brought on since President Biden came into office.
“We have to remain competitive and ensure that we’re attracting and retaining talented employees,” District 2 City Councilwoman Vanessa Fuentes stated.
The minimum wage increase will cost the city and additional $18.2 to $22.8 million.
A $22 hourly wage would amount to somewhere around $45,000 annually for full-time workers.
