McCarthy Exposes White House’s Terrible Plan
Biden is playing a very dangerous game.
Speaker Kevin McCarthy has alleged that the Biden administration’s priority lies in allowing a debt default to happen, rather than reaching a consensus with Republicans to extend the limit.
According to Breitbart, House Speaker Kevin McCarthy has voiced his dissatisfaction with the latest bipartisan endeavors to raise the U.S. debt ceiling. According to him, the Joe Biden administration seems to prioritize letting a debt default take place over negotiating spending cuts to reach an agreement with House Republicans.
If the United States fails to raise the debt limit, which is the legal threshold for its borrowing capacity, it would ultimately result in a government shutdown. This shutdown would cause delays in paychecks for government agency employees and payments to social services recipients and Medicare providers.
Despite the potential consequences, Democrats and Republicans have been unable to reach an agreement to resolve the debt ceiling crisis. As a result, a meeting between senior figures from both parties scheduled for this Friday was cancelled, as they could not come to a consensus on how to proceed.
Fox News has reported that McCarthy is holding the Biden administration responsible for the delay in resolving the issue, alleging that the President has not been willing to enforce spending cuts that Republicans believe are necessary conditions for raising the debt limit.
McCarthy has stated that he has not witnessed a sense of urgency from the White House in reaching a deal. He added that both parties agreed to let their staff meet again, hoping to make further progress before actual negotiations commence.
