President Biden and most of the Democrats were pushing for the passage of the Build Back Better bill. That all ended after Senator Joe Manchin voted with 50 other Senate Republicans and stopped the Build Back Better bill and prevent President Biden from banning offshore drilling.
According to Fox Business, Biden’s Build Back Better bill, if passed, would have scrapped America’s ability to drill for oil offshores. Experts strongly believe that if Biden and the Democrats had blocked offshore drilling it would have been very bad for the U.S. economy.
President of Texas Alliance of Energy Producers Jason Modglin stated, “An offshore drilling ban would be a disaster for our country, rolling out the red carpet for Russia and Venezuela to replace 20% of America’s daily production and costing Texas alone over 1 million jobs along our Gulf Coast.”
Ryan Sitton CEO of the Pinnacle firm shared a similar sentiment. Sitton claimed that ending offshore drilling would have made Russia significantly more powerful which is an “existential threat” to the United States.
“When you decrease U.S. oil production, and you put more demand on the world for Russian oil production, it just makes Russia more powerful,” Sitton added.
