IRS Says Do This NOW
This is important.
The IRS is now urging Americans to file their taxes as quickly as they can this year and are also recommending they they file them electronically as well.
According to Fox, the IRS is expecting a very complicated tax season this year and many tax payers will face lengthy delays do to an IRS worker shortage.
Currently the IRS has 20,000 less staff than they did in 2010 and a budget of only $11.4 billion which is 20% less than 2010.
They are also blaming the pandemic for being behind of schedule. White House press secretary Jen Psaki recently stated, “The IRS right now has unacceptable backlogs and the customer service that people are receiving is not what the American public deserves. The agency has not been equipped with the resources to adequately serve taxpayers in normal times, let alone during a pandemic.”
This along with a number of many other issues is why the IRS is urging the American people to quickly file their taxes. The IRS has also noted that individuals don’t need previous returns in order to submit their 2021 returns.
