Investigation Over Natural Gas Launched
Things must be bad.
Democrats have declared war on oil and natural gas in recent years. However, the natural gas prices have gotten so bad that now even far-left Democrat Governor Gavin Newsom has decided to ask President Biden’s federal government to launch an investigation into the unusually high natural gas prices.
According to Fox, Newsom said the “root causes of these extraordinary prices warrant further examination.”
Newsom then wrote in a letter to Biden, “I therefore ask that [Federal Energy Regulatory Commission] immediately focus its investigatory resources on assessing whether market manipulation, anticompetitive behavior, or other anomalous activities are driving these ongoing elevated prices in the western gas markets.”
Adding, “And, if warranted, I ask that FERC bring its full enforcement powers and resources to bear to protect customers.”
Natural gas prices in some parts of California are so high that some businesses such as restaurants can’t even afford to run their businesses.
The natural gas prices appear to be surging due to unseasonably cold temperatures along with low supplies due to less imports.
