Holiday Travel Faces New Threat
This is not good.
It appears that President Biden and the Democrats now have a new problem to deal with.
Just one day after Delta Air Lines pilots signaled for a potential strike to happen, United Airlines pilots made matters worse by completely rejecting a tentative contract agreement.
This means that the United States could now face a very serious work stoppage heading into the busiest time of the year: the holiday season.
According to NBC News, Delta pilots recently voted to strike if they do not receive a new contract from Delta airlines. The pilots want an updated pay rate and benefits since the last change was made back in 2016.
Chair of the Delta Master Executive Council Capt. Jason Ambrosi explained, “Today, Delta’s nearly 15,000 pilots sent a clear message to management that we are willing to go the distance to secure a contract that reflects the value we bring to Delta Air Lines as frontline leaders and long-term stakeholders.”
Ambrosi added, “Delta has rebounded from the pandemic and is poised to be stronger than ever, posting record revenues for the third quarter. Meanwhile, our negotiations have dragged on for too long.”
What makes matters worse for President Biden the Democrats and every American who depends on travel is that United Airlines pilots also rejected their new agreement with United Airlines as well.
United Master Executive Council chair Capt. Mike Hamilton stated, “By the Company’s own admission, this agreement missed the mark. That’s why both parties agreed to reengage at the bargaining table for a new, improved agreement.”
A strike by United Airlines and Delta pilots could spell disaster for America just before the holiday season. President Biden might need to get involved in this like he recently did for the railroad strike which was averted a few weeks ago.
