Common Food Now Too Expensive
First Eggs, now this…
For the first time since 1930, Orange crops in Florida are producing the lowest amount of oranges which is now affecting the price of orange juice due to a vast number of issues.
While this may not be directly the fault of President Biden’s leadership, it does come when inflation is already at its highest level and a vast number of other foods are also getting more expensive.
According to Fox, Americans can expect a big surprise next time they go to purchase orange juice since the supply of it is so low thanks to a number of climate related issues.
Orange juice prices have surged because of a freeze last year that harmed the buds for the crop along with Hurricane Ian as well as the spreading of citrus greening disease.
President Biden’s U.S. Department of Agriculture predicted that orange production was going to be 56% percent lower in the 2022-2023 season which amounts to a total of just 18 million boxes of oranges.
“The industry is really, really struggling hard to keep orange juice on the table,” said Ganes of J Ganes Consulting LLC.
citrus greening disease is impacting orange production very drastically added Ganes.
“The fruit starts to develop, and then to the horror of the growers, it winds up on the ground…50% of the fruit falls to the floor,” Ganes explained.
