Democrats Destroy The Railroad Industry
Congress should have never done this.
As you likely already know, under the direction of President Biden, Congress recently pushed through a sweeping contract which ended the potential railroad strike without giving the workers the paid sick days they were requesting. Now this may cause an even bigger issue because railroad workers are considering leaving the industry all together and this could cause devastating effects to the U.S. supply chain.
According to The Hill, this potential exit of thousands of train conductors and engineers would devastate thousands of corporations and millions U.S. consumers. The move would also severely slow down the delivery of food, fuel and online orders.
Atlanta-based engineer Hugh Sawyer explained, “I don’t think you’ll just see half of the workforce disappear, but you’ll see a good percentage, and we can’t afford for anybody to leave because we’re so undermanned as it is.”
“Most of these people live in or around metro Atlanta. The economy’s booming. They will find a job elsewhere,” Sawyer added.
The sad reality is is that the railroad industry cannot afford to lose anymore of their workers. President Biden and the Democrats pushed through the contract to end the strike but now things could just get worse. These workers need to be incentivized to show up to work everyday.
