Democrat Throws Party Under The Bus

The economic issues are piling up.

Following the unprecedented string of smash-and-grab robberies that have taken California by storm, Democratic lawmaker Rudy Salas has just gone against his party and has introduced a bill to reverse the states Proposition 47 which is to blame for rampant shoplifting and smash-and-grab crimes.

According to Fox, Salas had enough and called out his own party and stated, “Enough is enough, we need to fight back against the criminals who are stealing from our communities.”

California’s Proposition 47 was put into law in 2014 and reduced the penalty for shoplifting. The law made theft of $950 or less into misdemeanors instead of felonies.

“We have seen the unintended consequences of Prop 47’s weakening of our theft laws and I believe California voters are ready to make their voices heard on this issue again,” Salas sternly said.

Salas new law makes shoplifting over $400 a crime that could receive felony charges and would likely greatly curb crime in California.

It is currently unknown how Democrats will react to Salas’ proposal or if it will even pass.
