Even with the increased gas prices, surging inflation rate, and supply chain crisis brought on by the Biden Administration, retail sales in the United States still grew by 8.5% this holiday season compared to last year.
According to Fox, the growth was recorded by MasterCard who tracked sales both in retail stores and online from November 1 through December 24.
Senior advisor for MasterCard, Steve Sadove, believes that the growth happened due to fears from the American public about not being able to secure gifts for family and friends due to supply chain uncertainty.
“Consumers splurged throughout the season, with apparel and department stores experiencing strong growth as shoppers sought to put their best dressed foot forward,” Sadove explained
