Biden’s Student Loan Forgiveness Canceled
Uh-oh!
A federal judge out of the state of Texas struck down President Biden’s student loan forgiveness plan just after the midterm elections.
According to CNBC, the Biden administration has also stopped accepting applications for federal student loan forgiveness as well after the judge’s decision.
Studentaid.gov said on their website, “Courts have issued orders blocking our student debt relief program. As a result, at this time, we are not accepting applications. We are seeking to overturn those orders.”
Judge Mark Pittman of the U.S. District Court wrote a scathing response to President Biden and said, “In this country, we are not ruled by an all-powerful executive with a pen and a phone. Instead, we are ruled by a Constitution that provides for three distinct and independent branches of government…The Court is not blind to the current political division in our country. But it is fundamental to the survival of our Republic that the separation of powers as outlined in our Constitution be preserved. And having interpreted the HEROES Act, the Court holds that it does not provide ‘clear congressional authorization’ for the Program proposed by the Secretary.”
Education Secretary Miguel Cardona responded by saying, “We believe strongly that the Biden-Harris Student Debt Relief Plan is lawful and necessary to give borrowers and working families breathing room as they recover from the pandemic and to ensure they succeed when repayment restarts.”
We are currently unsure what will happen with all of this. However, it might be time for Americans to open their eyes and realize that if they voted in the midterm election based on Biden’s student loan debt forgiveness, they might have gotten tricked.
