Biden Claims Canceling Student Debt Won’t Harm Economy, Is He Lying?
Millions Of Americans To Lose Health Benefits
Millions of Americans are at risk of losing their health insurance coverage in October if President Biden and his administration does not choose to extend the COVID-19 public health emergency.
According to the Washington Examiner, more than 17% of medicaid and Children’s Health Insurance Program enrollees which comes out to around 15 million Americans are going to lose their health insurance coverage when the emergency declaration ends.
When the COVID-19 emergency began, requirements were lowered for who could get coverage. If Biden declares that the emergency is over, Medicaid and CHIP will start reviewing if their enrollees still meet the qualifications for medical coverage.
It is estimated that 8.2 million people who currently have medicaid will need to find a different means of coverage because they will lose their eligibility.
5.3 million children and 4.7 million adults ages 18-34 will also lose Medicaid and CHIP benefits.
