Biden Raises Minimum Wage
Here’s what happened…
President Biden decided to raise the minimum wage for employees of federal agencies to 15$ per hour and now that new order has officially gone into affect.
According to The Hill, the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) released a memo to heads of executive departments and agencies ordering them to adjusting pay rates for employees to make it at least $15 per hour now.
OPM referred to the move as a “general policy” from President Biden’s administration and the rule will be taking full effect on January 30th.
This decision to raise the minimum wage will impact over 70,000 workers most of whom work for the Defense Department, Department of Agriculture and Department of Veterans Affairs.
OPM recently discovered that “the vast majority” of federal workers already made over $15 per hour.
