Biden Opens Emergency Stockpile

The Biden Administration and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have just announced that they have ordered health authorities to begin releasing some Jynneos vaccine doses from the United States national stockpile to prepare for the monkeypox virus.
According to Fox, over 1,000 doses of the two-dose vaccine are in the Strategic National Stockpile.
Capt. Jennifer McQuiston explained, “We expect that level to ramp up very quickly in the coming weeks as the company provides more doses to [the U.S.]”
The current vaccine which is Jynneos is made by Bavarian Nordic A/S has been approved for use in the United States since 2019 to fight smallpox and monkeypox.
“We have a good stock of vaccine. We’ve been preparing for the possibility of needing to use it for smallpox,” McQuiston added.
