McCarthy Throws Cold Water On Democrats
House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, who could soon be the next Speaker, told lawmakers in the House that he is a “hell no” when it comes to support of the omnibus spending deal.
McCarthy is essentially telling lawmakers in Congress that is done with excessive government spending that only adds to inflation and other issues.
According to the Washington Examiner, McCarthy explained, “As I said last week, Republicans will soon be in the majority and in the driver’s seat to fight for our priorities. That’s why every Republican should be a NO on Democrats’ lame-duck omnibus bill.”
Sadly however, it looks like not all Republicans see eye-to-eye with Kevin McCarthy on this matter. One Republican pointed out, “The focus from individuals within the conference was on unity. When [Rep. Bob] Good [R-VA] talked about the need for unity on omni, we thought it was rich. He’s been one of most divisive folks in conference.”
Additionally it looks like Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell is against McCarthy and is in favor of the omnibus deal as well. It will be interesting to see how this all plays out.
