Major Automaker Cuts Thousands Of Jobs
This is sad news.
Major U.S. automaker Ford Motor Company is now firing as many as 8,000 workers who work in positions pertaining to their internal combustion division because they are now focusing on furthering their electric vehicle development programs.
According to Electrek, while Ford was slow to embrace electric vehicle development they have found major success in their Mustang Mach-E and F-150 Lightning vehicles.
Now it looks like Ford is planning to push forward with electric vehicles by investing in battery technology like solid-state and lithium iron phosphate (LFP) cells as well as building and maintaining newer models of electric vehicles.
As a result of all of this Ford is now preparing to cut as many as 8,000 jobs to make room for their electric vehicles.
Ford CEO Jim Farley has said in the past that Ford has far too many employees and will remove their salaried employees who work on their gas powered vehicles.
As of right now both of Ford’s combustion and electric vehicle models are not profitable due to several supply chain issues. Ford will be laying off their employees to maximize their profits.
