America’s Meat Shortage Getting Worse

This is not good.

If you read our previous story you know that America is now facing a tomato shortage but now our meat supply is also about to get worse as well.

According to The Hill, a megadrought which the Western half of the United States is dealing with right now has caused a number of problems including for America’s cattle heartland.

This drought is forcing ranchers to sell off their cattle in places like Texas and the southern plains.

Texas High Plains rancher Jim Ferguson explained, “We’ll keep selling cows till it rains.”

At the moment, Ferguson is just selling his oldest calves but if it doesn’t rain soon enough he might have to get more desperate. “it won’t be long before we start getting into the younger ones,” Ferguson explained. 

Cattle buyer Josh Sturgeon explained, “The lack of water in general, it’s hurting us all the way around. Any way you can think of.”
