In a new announcement it has just been learned that the IRS is adjusting their rules to account for inflation for the 2023 tax year. This move will shift tax brackets and also positively impact standard deductions for Americans.
According to The Hill, the IRS makes adjustments yearly however due to mass inflation this year and a possibility of recession the announcement is more important than every before.
These changes apply to the 2023 tax year which most American will file in 2024. These changes are made in an attempt to ward off an economic phenomenon known as “bracket creep.”
The standard deduction will increase by $1,800 for married people, $1,400 for heads of households and $900 for single taxpayers.
