Pelosi’s New Scandal
Nobody believes this one.
Pelosi caused major doubts on both sides of the political party today after she told reporters that lawmakers are currently working on a bill to ban members of Congress from trading stocks. Many people from both sides of the political spectrum came out and laughed at the idea that lawmakers would take away their own ability to trade stocks.
According to Newmax, Project on Government Oversight’s Walter Shaub laughed at Pelosi’s words and said, “I think it’s clear from my public comments that I remain skeptical.”
Recently Pelosi explained, “Members have been working on this. Just because somebody introduces a bill doesn’t mean it becomes the law of the land. Just because — what do they say, they have 60 [votes]? That’s not even a quarter of what we need, a third of what we need, to pass a bill, regardless of how bipartisan it is.”
Pelosi later said, “We believe we have a product we can bring to the floor this month. When the bill comes out you will see what it is.”
It’s hard to believe that Democrats or Republicans who have made millions of dollars off of the stock market will actually put forward a bill that will prevent themselves from buying stocks. Sadly, we will just have to wait and see what happens.
