New IRS Warning
Here’s what they are warning you not to do.
Americans have been able to file their tax returns since January 24th this year. The time to file this year came weeks earlier than expected because of problems that were highly likely to occur due to many issues this year including the pandemic, employment issues and more.
Due to all of these issues, the IRS has released a few warning to Americans before they file.
According to Best Life, on Feb. 8, the IRS posted a new warning to Americans to not do something which they have likely done in previous years.
The IRS is warning Americans not to skip filing their taxes in 2022 even if they aren’t required to.
While most Americans are required to file their taxes, some Americans over the age of 65 who are single and income doesn’t exceed the required threshold don’t file their taxes.
However, on Feb. 8, the IRS warned this specific group of people to not to skip filing this year because of a number of new tax benefits which were made thanks to the American Rescue Plan and other pieces of legislation.
The IRS said in a statement, “Often, individuals and families can get these expanded tax benefits, even if they have little or no income from a job, business or other source. This means that many people who don’t normally need to file a return should consider doing so this year.”
